It has always been my dream to be able to canter along the beach and splash about in the water, and last summer that dream came true. Whilst my dad was driving the one day he drove past a place which does horse riding on the beach so we researched it and my mum booked me and my sister for a ride. My little sister went on the walk and trot ride and I was accessed and then able to go on the canter and gallop ride. We then walked around to the stables and saw who we were going to ride. I was put on a 15hh black cob mare called Moyah (said like Moy-a) she reminded me of Star at the stables I ride at. She was lovely but at the same time she was a bit of a moody mare, I loved her! My little sister rode a little 12hh palomino pony called Sunny, he was lovely and so honest and sweet. Cantering through the water and galloping through the sand was the best feeling ever. These are the only pictures that we managed to take. We are saving up to go again, it was great fun!
It always annoys me when someone says that your horse is -something- cm high and I have no idea how tall that is. I spent ages trying to find an easy to read chart, so now I have found one I want to share it with you guys :) x If you copy and paste the link into your search engine it should take you straight to the right page.
http://www.canaryzoo.com/Horse%20Height.htm I am feeling really generous, so if anyone has any horse related questions leave them in the comments and I will try to answer them and if I dont know the answer I will try to find out. I have been riding for 8 years and have ridden many different breeds so hopefully I will be able to help you :) x
I have heard so many people say cobs cant jump! Well no they might not be as good as a thoroughbred might be but to prove them wrong here are some pictures of cobs jumping!! :) x
Anyone else desperate for a horse of their own but knows it will never happen? We all have that one horse who is amazingly special to us, mine is Lucy, she is so special to me and I love her to bits! Who is your special horse ? :) x With thanks again to Amy Rose photography for editing the picture :)
Recommended by a friend :) Here are some tips for buying a new horse.
1. Dont Rush Before rushing in to look at horses it can be a good idea to make a list of everything you will want to do with your horse and the suitable height, age etc. 2. Take Someone With You When going to view a horse it can be a good idea to take an experienced person with you so they can help you look at the horse and make sure its suitable, they can also ride it before you and then tell you how suitable they think it is. 3. Ask The Seller Dont be afraid to ask the seller if you can have a go at doing everything that you will want to do with the horse if you buy it. Also ask the seller to ride the horse before you so you can see how they ride the horse and how well it responds. 4. Come Back Again It can be a VERY good idea, if you are interested in the horse, to ask to come again and ride them again. You can also ask to come back when they are going to have the farrier so you can see how they behave. Although you dont have to actually do it you can ask if it would be ok to get the horse vetted and you can see the sellers reaction. 5. Buying The Horse If you really like the horse and are happy that it is the right horse for you, you might want to put an offer in. The best way to go about this is to ask the seller how much they want for the horse and then ask for alot lower, they will then disagree so you then go in the middle and go up little by little and they will agree soon, but if you begin to struggle say we have a loving home waiting which you can come and visit any time. Hope some of my tips help x :) Meet the horses at the riding school that I ride at :) High credits to Amy Rose for helping me with the pictures!
