Here's some helpful hacking tips:
- Make sure you and your horse/horse you are riding are both ready and ride in open spaces.
- Never hack out alone, go with a friend or in a group.
- Make sure someone at the yard knows where you are going and roughly how long you should be.
- Keep to bridleways and places you know you are allowed. Going off-piste may seem tempting, but you may be trespassing all the same.
- Take a hoof pick in your pocket, in case your horses becomes lame or gets a stone stuck in his hoof etc.
- Put fly repellent on before you go out, nothing worst than a hack ruined by flies pestering you and your horse the whole time.
- Always take a phone! Just in case.
